Bleach Episode 51 Review:

Episode 51 was a good transition from the recent lack-luster episodes that have been shown. We got to see Kenpachi breaking the ryoka out of jail and finding some new opponents to fight consisting of multiple captains. Some intriguing action scenes near the end of the episode as well as some funny scenes between the squad. The main focus seemed to be centered around Kenpachi’s new fight, along with the little reminder that Ichigo is still training to release his bankai.

Bleach Episode 51 Summary:

Bleach episode 51,  ”Morning of the Sentence“, begins back in the soul society, where Hitsuyaga is seen walking with Matsumoto, along with Ichimaru walking in front of Izuru. Rukia is seen being walked to her execution, obviously being the morning of her execution day. Two hungover death gods get into an argument in the middle of an alley and are distracted by a loud noise, which is actually Kenpachi running at full speed with Orihime and Yachiru on his back, being followed by the squad members.

Orihime guides Kenpachi through the alley, not showing yet what they’re looking for. The scene changes to show Ishida, bound up and in robes, smiling at a butterfly that flies through the window. Ganju makes fun of him for paying such attention to something so stupid until they hear a lot of yelling coming from outside. The wall from their jail cell is busted down, revealing Kenpachi. Ganju immediately begins crying in fear that Kenpachi has arrived in their cell, also seeing Yumichika, one of his own previous opponents. Orihime climbs up from behind Kenpachi’s shoulder, being pulled down by Yachiru, who tries to pull Orihime down just for the fun of it.

The scene changes to show Byakuya leaving a room with Hisana’s picture on the wall, a woman that looks like Rukia. The scene changes to show Tetsuzaemon, a death god that arrives late to the door step of another man wearing a very heavy looking mask, whom asks him if he is “ready”. He talks about feeling a debt to Genryuusai, an old man that saved him when he was in a lost place in the south. Tousen, the death god that captured Ishida, is seen behind him and says his path is the same as the man wearing the mask, identified as Komamura.

Kyouraku is then seen resting on the top of his house, being approached by Nanao. He says he has a problem, asking for her to listen. He says a blade of grass he put in his mouth has poison on it and his lips are burning. He asks her what he should do in the current situation, and Nanao says whatever he does, she will follow him.

Kenpachi is seen again, standing in front of Ishida and the others, whom apparently were all lead to a location that now appears to be an empty piece of land. A bunch of flowers are seen flowing and both Kenpachi and Yumichika pick up the presence of people concealing themselves in spirit energy to hide. “Come out!” Kenpachi yells. The group seen from before, seemingly lead by the masked man Komamura, slam down on a roof top. They ask them what the group of people are doing with the Ryoka in their possession.

Kenpachi almost immediately is excited about the possibility of fighting, telling his squad that he might not even allow them to fight for the sheer challenge of fighting 4 on 1. He tells his members to move out of the way and is cheered on by Yachiru. Yachiru drags the rest of them in the opposite direction, running away from the scene to leave Kenpachi and the others by themselves. Yumichika and Ikkaku stay behind, standing in front of Kenpachi, prepared to fight. Kenpachi asks them why they didn’t stay with the rest of the group. Kenpachi agrees to let them fight, but if they get in his way, he will cut them as well.

Ikkaku and Yumichika take their own opponents to the other area’s, leaving Kenpachi alone to fight the stronger ones. Komamura pulls out his soul slayer, releasing an incredible amount of spirit force that apparently surprises Kenpachi. Tousen follows up by shooting various sharp, sword-like needles from above. “It’s over,” Yamamura exclaims. To his surprise, Kenpachi stands in the same position with the Benihikou swords sticking through his body, not even phased by the attack.

From Ichigo’s training location, Renji leaves the area to let Ichigo continue training. He asks Yoruichi if he will be able to achieve Bankai by today, seeing as how they’re running out of time. The fighting between Ichigo and his Zengetsu becomes harder and harder as Zengetsu multiplies himself into various copies, attacking Ichigo from all angles.
